Breaking your journey?

Crianlarich is renowned for being the perfect point to break your journey north. Far enough from the madding crowd, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Highlands, but conveniently close when you've already travelled for hours and you're not quite ready for the drive ahead.

Carna Cottage and The Posh Bothy make the perfect pitstop, ideally placed on the A85, moments from the A82 and a few minutes walk from Crianlarich railway station.

But why just stop the night? Why not bag Crianlarich's 7 munros whilst you're here? Pop your kayak into the River Fillan and paddle to Loch Dochart Castle, Swim in Loch Lubhair or simply plot up by the river and enjoy the meadow flowers. We also have excellent places to eat and drink and a really well stocked local shop.

Situated in the Trossachs National Park, directly on the A82 and A85, and with its own railway station, Crianlarich is perfectly situated to explore so much of what the area has to offer.

It's said that Crianlarich is either the middle of nowhere or the centre of everywhere, and it really is the latter! Travel an hour west and you're at the coast in Oban, an hour north and you're in hillwalker heaven - Fort William (via the breathtaking scenery of Glencoe, arguably the loveliest stretch of road on the A82, or even the world!!) An hour to the east is the city of Stirling and South takes you to Glasgow.

And so many amazing places in between - Loch Lomond, Callander, Killin, Balquidder - to name but a few - not to mention the breathtaking scenery en route. Travelling is never a chore from Crianlarich, everywhere is beautiful. There's too much to mention here - get out your map and see! The possibilities are endless.
